As ambassadors of Christ we have been given the ministry of reconciliation. It begins and ends with God. In response to HIS gift in JESUS CHRIST loving humanity while we were yet sinners CHRIST died for us. All things are being reconciled by the blood of HIS CROSS. Empowered by the Spirit of God through grace alone, we are distributors of mercy for we have received much mercy. We are called to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul and mind and love our neighbor as ourselves. A new commandment was given unto us, that we love one another, as Christ has loved us, that we also love one another. By this shall all men know that we are disciples of Jesus, if we have love one for another. Walk with me as I follow Christ. Join me in my daily walk as I allow you in on my personal morning journal. Walking with the Lord is not one hour a week, 2 days a week or submitting to a religious obligation. It is a daily, hourly, minute by minute walk in joyful submission to our Lord and Master Jesus Christ in response to HIS GOSPEL. There is GOOD NEWS every day for we can rejoice in all things. Someone once said the Psalms helps us walk with God and Proverbs helps us walk with man. I have been reading a chapter a day for the corresponding day of the month for a couple of years and will journal daily on my walk through them. I also reference many other scriptures and topics depending on how I am led including personal testimonies and experiences. I encourage you to register and receive these daily updates automatically via email.

To do so, you need to:

  1. Register with the site
  2. Login
  3. Check the box at the top of the forum that reads "Email me when someone replies to this thread."

My prayer is that the Spirit of God Himself encourages you to be emptied of the world and full of faith walking with Jesus Christ. I pray you become in your home and before your family the shepherd you are called to be men and the precious, humble, submissive treasure God has called you to be ladies. A disciple making disciples of Jesus. His cross is there to crucify you and His resurrection is a witness to provide you the indwelling power of the Spirit of God to surrender to the will of God. God fulfilling His Kingdom in the hearts of His children as agents of reconciliation. If the love of Christ does not compel us, we are a clanging symbol and a noisy gong.

Call or email if you need help getting started, lack the faith to begin or have questions.

Grace, Peace and Love,
Brian

Psalms 5:

How to Worship:
Verse 7 -But as for me, I will come in the house in the multitude of thy mercy:and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

Protection and favor of the Lord:
Verse 11-12: But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice; let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass his as with a shield.

Proverbs 5:

The Lord is watching every step we take:
Vs. 21- For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.

Insight for Leaders: A.W. Tozer

Pastoral Ministry: Sheep Are Led

Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For he is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. --Psalm 95:6-7

Cattle are driven; sheep are led; and our Lord compares His people to sheep, not to cattle.

It is especially important that Christian ministers know the law of the leader--that he can lead others only as far as he himself has gone....

The minister must experience what he would teach or he will find himself in the impossible position of trying to drive sheep. For this reason he should seek to cultivate his own heart before he attempts to preach to the hearts of others....

If he tries to bring them into a heart knowledge of truth which he has not actually experienced he will surely fail. In his frustration he may attempt to drive them; and scarcely anything is so disheartening as the sight of a vexed and confused shepherd using the lash on his bewildered flock in a vain attempt to persuade them to go on beyond the point to which he himself has attained....

The law of the leader tells us who are preachers that it is better to cultivate our souls than our voices. It is better to polish our hearts than our pulpit manners, though if the first has been done well and successfully it may be profitable for us to do the second. We cannot take our people beyond where we ourselves have been, and it thus becomes vitally important that we be men of God in the last and highest sense of that term.

"Lord, today let me stop, step off the busy treadmill, and look to the condition of my soul. Help me to listen to You and be spiritually nurtured, to have my soul cultivated by You in silence and solitude. Amen."

Psalms 6: Verse of the day

vs. 1) O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

The first verse really speaks to me. I do not depise the chastening of the Lord; I actually anticipate it and pray for Him to discipline me for my best interest. Although I welcome it, I do not want to be on the other side of his pruning and discipline because of willful disobedience. This can provoke the Lord to anger over time.

Proverbs 6: Verse of the day

vs. 16-19- THESE six things doth the Lord hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him; A proud look, a lying tongue and hands that shed innocent blood. An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that run swiftly to mischief; a false witness that speaketh lies and he that soweth discord among brethren.

If the Lord hates something we should as well. These are all characteristics of Satan. We know the first, being proud & haughty leaves us with no chance to be in his presence. We first have to come humbly. I believe that is why a state of contrition and self denial places us into a pliable posture. Lying is mentioned twice. I found that if I was not truthful with God, I could not be honest with others. This is the fundamental principle that builds integrity. Being honest is admitting mistakes, shortcomings and failures. Admitting weaknesses, because we are frail. A heart that deviseth wicked schemes or imaginations(He sees our thoughtlife) we must take every thought captive. Sowing discord among brethren. Sowing discord among brethren. Gossip, backbiting, slandering without being used to be a solution. If there is a problem and there are many, if we speak, we should be willing to act. If we act out of character we must confess it and restore the offended brother. There are multitudes of problems and sins in our churches but we can't complain unless we are going to be used of God to be an instrument of distributing Truth, Grace, Reconciliation and Light to a dark situation.

Psalms 7

vs. 1- O Lord my God, in You I put my trust. Save me from all those who persecute me.

vs. 8- The Lord shall judge the peoples; Judge me, O Lord according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me.

Verse 8 really identifies with Chapter 26. This is my daily personal prayer. I look at verse 1 and always ask myself if I am putting all my trust in God. Ask the question, are you being persecuted? If not, you probably aren't putting your trust in God.

I had the privilege of sharing yesterday morning at a local church. It was "Mission" day and I actually spoke on the Acts 1:8 verse that so many of us quote. Its theme is you shall receive power once the Holy Ghost has come upon you and be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the uttermost parts. One of the things the impressed upon me is the word POWER. It reminds me of II Timothy 1:7, God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and self control. The question posed, have you received power to be a witness and demonstration in your home? How can you testify anywhere else if you cannot do so in your home? If God cannot lead you and direct you with those he has given you authority over, you will never exercise His Power in any other areas. Always acknowledge what you cannot do, then it provides an opportunity to Him to Work. It is a power unto submission. I can't do anything, but He can do all things. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me" In my weakness my strength through Him is made perfect. God has a mission to allow His Power to work in you.

How do you glorify your earthly parents? You listen & obey. Same with our Heavenly Father.

I challenged everyone to first acknowledge what they can't do. Pray with the family, make time for God in the home, tell a neighbor about Jesus, confess some sin that they are struggling with, admit they made a mistake, testify to a family member or sunday school class of what Jesus has done, even getting out of bed. Apart from God giving them the breath, power and strength to do so. He will show up in all areas and grow your faith if you DO NOT OPERATE IN YOUR OWN STRENGTH.

It was wonderful that even Toziers devotional was based on the passage:

Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God....
--2 Corinthians 3:5

Proverbs 7

verse 3b- Write the word on your heart.
This is stated several times in Proverbs. It must be pasted, embossed and cemeted in our hearts not heads.

The later verses in this chapter are a great strength to all men who may fall prey to lust over women, a harlot, a seducer. She is crafty, beware men. Guard your eyes, your ears and your hearts. It ends in destruction and hell.

Psalms 8

vs. 1
O Lord our Lord how excellent is Your name in all the earth. Who have set Your glory above the heavens.

What more can we say. I think this bears repeating all day long, every day.

Proverbs 8

vs. 13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, Pride, and arrogance and the evil way. And the perverse mouth I hate

We must hate evil, hate Satan, hate Sin, hate Pride, hate lying

vs. 19 My fruit is better than gold, yes than fine gold.

Wisdom is the greatest treasure and a by product of knowing God- He is wisdom. Omniscient - All Knowing. We receive Wisdom by seeking Him diligently, this leads us to discernment. You cannot possess wisdom without God and you only get to God through Jesus Christ.

I thought this verse was so rich. What else is there really to boast about, but to know that we are a child of our loving Father.

Jeremiah 9:23-24

23 This is what the LORD says:
"Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom
or the strong man boast of his strength
or the rich man boast of his riches,

24 but let him who boasts boast about this:
that he understands and knows me,
that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,"
declares the LORD.

In Psalms 9 look how many times the word praise, rejoice and glad are used.

Proverbs 9 has great wisdom for dealing with scoffers(mockers) those who do not have spiritual discernment. vs. 7 He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself and he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. How wise are you? This verse really speaks the truth. Vs. 8b Rebuke a wise man and he will love you.

Vs. 10- The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. What we fear sets our limit. God is limitless. In Him and through the Holy Spirit is where we find perfect peace. John 20:19-22

This morning Psalms is such a bold proclamation agains the proud. If there is one thing God depises is a proud heart. In verses 2-4 the psalmist calls the proud wicked. Verse 9 & 10 speaks of false humility and wrong motives, "He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den, he lieth in wait to catch the poor, vs. 10 He croucheth and humbleth himself that the poor may fall by his strong ones." Have you ever humbled yourself to take advantage of someone for your gain, popularity, recognition or glory? I believe verse 4 sums it up. "The wicked through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts." Father I pray in the name of Jesus, check every motive, desire, attitude, that you would crucify pride to its core, and always bring YOUR motives to my heart. For the times I have taken advantage of people in years past, I repent fully, forgive me. Keep my heart broken and in a state of contrition in Jesus name. Amen" As I read verse 17, it finishes my prayer, "Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear"

Proverbs 10

Proverbs 10:9 maybe one of my favorites:

"He that walketh uprightly walketh surely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known."
This verse shouts to the very theme of integrity and how to be secure. How are you found out? Who perverts your way and leads you astray? Unconfessed sin will haunt you and be exposed and revealed by the Light. Let your path be guided by the Lord and not Satan.

Regarding security, verse 24 " The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him, but the desire of the righteous shall be granted."
How many times have you heard it, "self fulfilling prophesy" What you fear controls and becomes your compass in life. Let it be God.

Psalms 11- What a deep contrast on how the Lord views those that are righteous and those that are wicked. Verse 5-7 "The Lord trieth the righteous but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone and an horrible tempest, this shall be the portion of their cup. For the righteous his countenance doth behold the upright."

How are we righteous, only by being identified in Christ. How do are we filled with His Holy Spirit, Jesus spoke it so clearly, blessed are they that thirst and hunger for righteousness, for they shall be filled" We must love and invoke righteousness, justice and truth and personally hate deceit, lies, envy and false witness in our daily walk.

Proverbs 11

Verse 1- "A false balance is abomination to the Lord, but a just weight his delight." Review the previous statement.
Verse 2-When pride cometh, them cometh shame, but with the lowly is wisdom." I can testify from experience the shame of being filled with pride, I only became to understand and discern things through knowing God and what He says. God is wisdom. We learned that in Chapter 8.

Paul Modar, a longtime friend of mine and I had breakfast this morning and shared some in this verse.

Verse 25-verse on generosity. Want to know how to have others pour into your life? Want to know how to be "fulfilled"? "The liberal soul shall be made fat and he that watereth shall also be watered himself." I think of I Corinthians 3:6 where Paul planted, Apollos watered and God gives the increase. He will increase your soul(seed) if you are faithful sowing in His field, His Kingdom because it will not be you doing the work but God through His Holy Spirit. He replenishes you, restores you and refreshes you. He gives the increase to all things in His Kingdom. Reaching souls, growing souls and nurturing souls.

Verse 28-
Who is trusting in their riches? Who has security in wealth, materials, 401's and monetary income. Verse 28: "He that trusteth in his riches shall fall, but the righteous shall flourish as a branch." What emphasizes this in the New Testament? Jesus is the vine, He said abide in me and I in you and your will bear much fruit(flourish)."

Awesome, Brian. Coming to the site daily helps my day start off right.

I read something that makes a lot of sense, and is helping me tremendously in all areas of my life...

As long as our minds rehearse the strength of our strongholds more than the strength of our God, we will be powerless to overcome those strongholds that keep us from walking in freedom.

Remember our God, who created the heavens, the earth and all that is in them. Our God, who parted the mighty sea. Our God, who defeated our adversary by obedience, even to death by the cross. It is THAT power that He freely gives to us.

Meditate on His power, that He is our God...there is no other. "Greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world." Let's not deny his power. Ask boldly in prayer. I have found many times that I limit God through my weak prayers, not wanting to ask too much from Him. Nothing is too much for Him!

When we worship God and recognize who He really is, we begin to pray i the Spirit, and we learn to not "ask amiss". It all starts with recognizing our Holy, Loving, powerful God for who He is.

Thanks and praise to our Loving Creator! This site is speaking into my life daily, and appraently many others as well (based on the views).

My prayer this morning is that those who read these posts are moved by the Spirit to contribute as well. It is difficult to find godly people to surround ourselves with in our daily lives, and the Lord has blessed us with this forum to do just that.

I pray that I may be encouraged together with you by the mutual faith of both you and me (Rom. 1:12)

I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith (Phil. 1:25)

We need each other. Have a blessed day!

I affirm your thoughts Jimmy. Thank you letting God allow you to invest in my life and others.

Psalm 12

The very first verse is sometimes how I feel and perceive the world to be. verse 1, "Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases to be. For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men."

I know it is not true but where is the witness and testimony for Jesus Christ? The Lord is asking? It seems much like the days of Noah. verse 2 emphasizes the hypocrisy we see everywhere, "They speak falsehood to one another; with flattering lips and with a double heart they speak." This reminds me of the Pharisees who had all the rituals down, the religous ceremonies, the memorized scripture, even fasting but their heart was far from God. They denied the need for Jesus. This even went to epic proportions of using the scriptures to justify there position. What pride. Falsehood can be using scripture to justify sin. Satan is a master at this, look at the first transgression. verse 3 really is a strong action oriented verse. "May the Lord cut off all flattering lips, The tongue that speaks great things." I actually take scripture so literal, when Jesus said, If your eye offend you pluck it out, if your hand offend you cut it off, it is much better to lose a limb than your soul in hell. That hits me so heavy I said to myself I will cut off my hand or limb if I cannot control the sin in my life, pluck my eye out if I cannot keep it from looking at lustful things. When you take scripture so literal, God provides the power to deny yourself access to the temptations that Satan wants to destroy us with, He crucifies and mortifies the flesh. May my eye gate seek purity and discern things that are unseen, my ears listen to sound teaching and the voice of the Holy Spirit, may my tongue not flatter but give truth, give things that edify the spirit and destroy the flesh and its strongholds, all the while allowing the Holy Spirit to minister the Grace He has given me.

Proverbs 12
WOW, the first 3 verses are so powerful, I will meditate on them all day.

(NIV) I love the truth. verse 1, " Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid." I have been stupid many times, I rebelled and was defiant to correction in the most severe way. The result, I was so stupid, read the testimony. I thank God for loving me enough to truly discipline me for I know that will keep me in His Will. I do not want to be stupid.

verse 2, "A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but the Lord condemns a crafty man." What are your motives, if not pure and of the Lord you are in bulls eye range of condemnation. Remember in Romans there is now therefore no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin & death. This verse is so often taken out of context. We who are saved are not under condemnation of eternal death in hell BUT you must read verse 5 to really look at your motives and see if you are allowing the Holy Spirit who saved you to liberate you from condemnation. What is your mind continously set on, bills, work, activities, trips, hobbies, then God. Romans 8:5,"Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires, but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. Verse 6 gets even deeper,"The mind of sinful man(a condemned man)is death but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace, the sinful man is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law nor can it do so." Where is your mind set, it will govern your heart. Set it on God, lest you fall into a sinful selfish path yielding to your old, adamic nature bringing condemnation, wrath and hostility upon yourself. Keep it set on God! Nothing in front of Him, No idols, None. For your own well-being. Reap & sow, eternal principles. What or who are you yielding to?

Verse 3- This will be your outcome either way,"A man cannot be established(rooted, grounded, stable)through wickedness, but the righteous(Mind & Heart Set on God) cannot be uprooted."

The previous days psalms, regarding wickedness and righteousness. Lord keep me in "right" standing with you, Judge me, examine me,mortify and crucify my sinful nature by your Holy Spirit that I will not slide." Amen----

Psalm 13: A prayer for time in trouble. God is so faithful in verse 5 we can always rejoice he will deliver us and save us from our enemies.

1How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?

2How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?

3Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

4Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.

5But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.

6I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

Then we praise Him(sing) because he hath dealt bountifully(exceedingly above our expectations) with us.

Proverbs 13

verse 1 is similiar to the previous chapter. Don't we desire wisdom, "A wise son heeds his father's instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke." Do we heed our Heavenly Father's instruction, that is a reflection of how we heed anyone else.

Verse 2-Again a word to guard our speech. "From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful have a craving for violence." What we say and plant into our lives and others will bear fruit in a good or bad way.

Verse 5
The righteous hate what is false but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.
Again hating lying, deceit and dishonesty. First let us always address it within ourselves maintaining our integrity with our Heavenly Father.

Psalm 14:1-3

"The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds; There is no one who does good. The Lord has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men. To see if there are any who understand. Who seek after God. They have all turned aside together they have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one."

This sounds much like the times of the days of Noah. Like the days in Sodom. What is position this day? Personally, Family, County, City, State, Country? World?

Verse 4 and 5, The Lord gives us confidence in victory,"Do all the workers of wickedness not know, Who eat my people as they eat bread and do not call on the name of the Lord? There are in great dread, For God is with the righteous generation."
Is there a righteous generation out there? I do not see it, Let is start with me.

Proverbs 14

What is the fountain of life? Don't we want to be there receiving the Living Water?

Verse 27- " The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death."

What exalts a nation? Is the USA to be exalted? How about any country? Verse 24" Righteousness exalteth a nation But sin is a reproach to any people." What does reproach mean? Disgrace, shame, rebuke sternly.

Psalm 15

What is the reflection of those who emulate the character of God? Who has the right or privilege to allow the Lord to enter their vessel?

vs. 1 "Lord who may abide in your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?" Our vessel is the tent which God can either indwell and welcome His Holy Spirit or grieve, quench and remove it. How can we enter His presence?

vs. 2" He who walks uprightly and works righteousness and speaks the truth in his heart. He who does not backbite with his tongue nor does evil to his neighbor nor does he take up a reproach against his friend. In whose eyes a vile person is despised but he honors those who fear the Lord. He who swears to his own hurt and does not change. He who does not put out his money at usury nor does he take a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things shall not be moved."

Pretty self explanatory. Verse 2 allows us to be used to obey the following commands and be secure in Christ alone or not moved.

Proverbs 15

Practical application. This chapter is loaded with so much it is hard to pick what I want to focus on today. Always we can rest assurred, if I chose my own path or forsake the way there are consequences.

verse 10 really helps me-
"Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way and he who hates correction will die."

Also you want to know how to obtain answered prayers. Be pure! verse 29 "The Lord is far from the wicked but He hears the prayer of the righteous."

All the prayers, all the time speaking to the Lord, if there is unconfessed sin in our life, whether omission or commission, we can become self-righteous(prideful) in the habit of praying to be praying, seeking our natural desires instead of God's plan for our life. What separates us from God? Sin. Sin creates distance and distance makes us far from Him, consequently He will not hear. That is why He says, "Purify your hearts you sinners, draw nigh to me and I will draw nigh to you." He still desires to take my will, desires and passions out of the way, so His can enter. "Lord, in Jesus name, may I never get far from you, remove my sins, known and unknown, keep me clean, pure and whole before You, so I will not slide."

Psalms 16

vs. 7 "I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons." Has the Lord given you specific wisdom and counsel(sure with His Word, it is endless)How can we thank Him, if we follow it in obedience. Are you listening to the Lord? The "night seasons". Any of you ever had lonley times, depressing, irritating times, times of emptiness, dark moments when you feel like you are hiding something from someone, dark moments when everything has come against you, even your closest friends and family? The remedy, has our heart instructed us in those seasons or experiences? That is why it is so vital to have our heart pure, filled with the Holy Spirit, so we can have hope, direction, assurance, strength and peace in those times. If anxiety, worry, doubt, fear, close in on you and direct your path, stop and understand that God is sovereign, in control. First get your heart aligned with Him, pure before Him and then you can receive the fruits of His power, mercy and grace. Remember in dark seasons you need a light. What is Jesus, in John 8:12, He is the Light of the World and He who walks with me will not be in darkness. Lord, may I grab hold to Jesus always, staying in the Light and love of His presence.

vs. 8-9a so clearly explain this: "I have set the Lord before me always, because He is at my right hand I will not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory rejoices."

vs. 11 "You will show me the path of life, in Your presence is fullness of joy. At your righthand are pleasures forevermore."

This is one of my favorite scriptures and could be a theme for finding fulfillment. If we rely on God, He will show us the path of life and abundance but where is the fullness of joy found? In His Presence. Have you been in His presence lately? Not just an hour in church? I mean privately in His presence? You will never experience the fullness of joy unless you take time to be focused on God and allow Him to speak to you and you with Him.

Proverbs 16

This chapter is so rich with practical insight, I may take one verse per day next month and focus on that.

Verse 2
"All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes but the Lord weighs the spirits." We can rationlize our own opinion because we are selfish and justify what we do to be right, pure and correct. That is exactly what Satan wants us to do and with our flesh man being so self centered by nature you see how easy corruption enters your life. The Lord weighs the spirits(motives, intents, desired outcome) and the only way to keep our motives pure is to have our lives aligned with God's word by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit.

Verse 9 hit me today as it is one of my favorite verses because we all need atonement for iniquity(forgiveness of sin and true repentance). "In mercy and truth atonement is provided for iniquity and by fear of the Lord one departs from evil." How do we not only get forgiveness of sin but have the ability to move or depart from evil. First God always grants us mercy because we do not get what we deserve, so we face the truth of our failures, faults, problems, shortcomings. Who is the Truth? Jesus Christ. God grants us mercy by the shed blood of Calvary cleansing us for our sins. They cross the bloodline and are washed clean. How do we move away from evil(bad habits, willful disobedience) understand how to fear God. Fearing God is understanding what we fear controls us. It sets our limit. With God that is limitless. If one has no fear of something they are not concerned about it. Such as someone walking up to a rattlesnake and holding it in their hand, they are not afraid of the outcome, they do not respect the bite and deadly poison that could be injected into their hand. If your father told you, you need to be home by 9:00pm and you tell your friends, I'll go home when I want to, then you are demonstrating no respect, no reverance to your fathers authority, actually your behavior is saying I am not afraid of the outcome or results of my disobedience. Your actions are saying I don't care and I will not listen. I will do what I want to do. That is exactly what our actions demonstrate and say louder than any words when we do not put God Almighty and His Word as the Authority in our lives. We have no fear of the outcome of going our own way. It shows no respect or reverance for the Creator of the Universe. It shows no respect for the Savior of the world. It is like saying so what. If we ignore the Truth, The Word of God and His commands, we are telling God, I do not fear the outcome of going my own way. I will be ok. "Lord, I fear the outcome of trusting myself, my abilities, my intuition, my talents, my desires, my needs, for when I have done this in the past, I have always failed, but when I trust You completely, have respect for You and fear the outcome of walking away from You, I truly pray I fear You, listen to You and honor You will my life. I do not want to be on the other side of You. Help me Father to walk in the reverance and fear of Your Word, Your Truth and Your commands. They will be a source of peace, joy, strength, assurance that all others fears and worries are lies from Satan himself, plaguing my mind telling me You are not in control when I know fully well You are. Fear of other things Lord than of You is denying your Sovereign Hand is at work controlling everything. I thank you Lord for showing me I should reverance, , fear and honor You."

One line profoundly impacted me from that, and made everythig else fall into place. Thanks for sharing that.

What we fear is what controls us. I want to be controlled by the Lord who loves me, has a plan for me, plans to prosper me and not to harm me, plans to give me hope and a future. We also know that our hope and future is most abundant when giving back to Him. We find our lives by losing it for His sake. Step out in faith in the words of our Savior. Do something for Jesus. He commissions us to spread the word to all the living.

I met another man today who felt that sharing the gospel is a "gift". He felt he wasn't given that gift. It is "uncofmortable" for him to share the gospel, so he excuses himself by dismissing it as a "gift" he wasn't given. Thank God Moses trusted God that He would be with him, even though he felt he was slow of speech in approaching Pharaoh. Thank God the apostles endured being "uncomfortable" through torture and death, that we might be saved through the good news which they delivered to us. My prayer is that someone thanks God that YOU endured feeling "uncomfortable" that they might receive the good news of Jesus, just as you received it.

Sharing Jesus is not a gift. It is a command by our loving Lord and Savior. Luke 21:14-15, "Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; for i will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist."

Step out in faith that He will speak through you, and that it will not be your own witty communication that will win people to you. But trust that no matter WHAT you say, it will be a seed that is planted - Isiaiah 55:11 - "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."

Live by faith! It's the most exciting life there is. Watch the Lord use you in ways we wouldn't ever think possible in our own strength.

Sorry...I meant don't rely on your own words to win people to Christ (not "to you").

Psalm 17
This is the 3rd time I have tried this entry. I pray it is received. Let’s look at verses 1-5 today. We all want answered prayers. How do we position ourselves for the Lord to hear our petitions?

Psalm 17

“1Hear the right, O LORD; attend unto my cry! Give ear unto my prayer, which goeth not out of feigned lips. 2Let my sentence come forth from Thy presence; let Thine eyes behold things with equity. 3Thou hast tested mine heart; Thou hast visited me in the night; Thou hast tried me and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. 4Concerning the works of men, by the word of Thy lips I have been kept from the paths of the destroyer.5Uphold my goings in Thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. 6I have called upon Thee, for Thou wilt hear me, O God; incline Thine ear unto me and hear my speaking.”

First David says Hear the right. A plea, cry and call for justice. We cannot plea or petition a prayer for justice until we are in a just position ourselves. That would make us most hypocritical and self centered. Bring justice to them but not me. Lord start with me first. “which goeth out of feigned lips.” That is deceitful lips, a mouth that speaks and claims one thing but actions that live and prove a different story. This is where we should pray according to the Will of the Father, “lest my sentence come forth from thy presence” or we get what we deserve. Where is fullness of joy found? We saw that in the previous chapter, in His presence. We cannot enter into His presence without coming humbled, contrite and honest (not deceitful). The NKJV says let my vindication come from Your presence. What does vindication mean? It means, the defense, such as evidence or argument, that serves to justify a claim or deed. We cannot enter into His presence without first coming to Him as He sees us. It says, “Let thine eyes behold things with equity.” The NKJV says “look on things that are upright”. We understand in Proverbs 15 the Lord is far from the wicked but hears the prayers of the righteous. The only way we can be righteous is by the indwelling power of His Holy Spirit controlling, convicting us of our sin and moving us into righteousness, purity, wholeness and closer to His presence where our full joy is found. “Thou hast tried me and found nothing” we must confess our shortcomings, failures, need and dependence on God alone, that His grace and mercy sustain us in all we do. In verse 3, “Thou hast tested me and visited with me in the night”. “I pray often late in the night as I enter into rest one of my last petitions, God by the Power of Your Holy Spirit, scan me of sins of which I may not even know exists, wake me up so that I may call on you and confess them.”

“I have purposed with my mouth” may my speech be symbolic of what I do and not say. Guard my lips from the path of the destroyer (Satan) that my mouth would utter Your Word and by your Holy Spirit my actions demonstrate your Truth. May my mouth and actions line up with Your Word.

This keeps us from slipping, backsliding and moving away from God resulting in His ears hearing our prayers. “5Uphold my goings in Thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. 6I have called upon Thee, for Thou wilt hear me, O God; incline Thine ear unto me and hear my speaking.”

Proverbs 17

Want to have close friends? Want to have a close walk with God? Verse 9

First verse 9:
“He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats the matter separates friends.”

This is so often taken out of context, by saying hide(cover) your transgression if you do a friend wrong. Who have we transgressed first before we do a friend, parent, co-worker,ect. If we gossip, slander, backbite, refuse to tell the entire truth, manipulate, glorify ourselves, steal, deceive, who is hurt first? God, we have broken His heart. The ONLY way to cover our transgressions is to take them to the foot of the cross and allow the blood of Jesus to purge them (bring them into the light by confession) and by that penitent heart we seek love, we are forgiven first from transgressing God then He produces power by the Holy Spirit to turn(repent) away from the behavior, act, deed to help ensure we do not repeat the matter. The key phrase in the second half of the verse is “repeat” and “separate”. If we keep repeating sins that are not brought to God we are further separating ourselves from His protection, His favor, His strength, His peace, His love, His mercy and His grace. On the flipside, if we allow Jesus to cover the sin, we can admit it to God first, our friends second and we begin to build trust based on Jesus Christ which is the foundation of eternal relationships. This is true first with God, then with your spouse, your brother or sister in Christ, your friend or any other relationship. This forms our integrity.

Verse 14:
Arguing. Have a problem with arguing? With your spouse, sisters, bosses, parents, children, pastors, God?

Verse 14:
“The beginning of strife is like releasing water; therefore stop contentions before a quarrel starts.”
Where does strife come from? Rooted in pride, being right, correct on your position, opinion, viewpoint. Comes from Satan. Satan is a divider, a confuser and a quarreler. He would rather have us quarreling over a theological debate than doing what we know we should do. God does not value our opinions, our views, He wants us to hold His Word, His Thoughts and Truths in so highly esteem it, that ours should be void of communicating. This is the first thing we have to realize in order to live under the Authority of the Word of God. That is why there is one God and one God alone. Titus 3:9-11 “But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition knowing that such a person is warped and sinning being self condemned.” It is like the proverbial question on Calvanism? What is your position? I once said, I believe God knew at this very moment before the foundations of the world that you would inquire my position about predestination and evangelism. I believe that is His Sovereignty in knowing all things before they exist. Jesus Christ came to seek and save that which was lost. Right, if I believe and have accepted Jesus Christ should I not do what he was sent to do. Or can I contradict His mission & purpose, if He lives in me, will I not do what He did, even unto death? At the end of the day, I was compelled by the Lord to shut up, shut my mouth and just do. Be a doer, be a doer, be a doer, be a doer, be a doer, be a doer, be a doer, be doer, be a doer, lest you be deceived. Doers do not argue, they do, they do, they are obedient. Lord, my opinion is rubbish and dung, my thoughts are nothing within myself alone, please by your Word and Power put Your Truth, Your Precept, Your Knowledge in my vessel and remove my meaningless, worthless opinions. May all disputes be met at the foot of Cross and allow You to tell us what YOUR POSITION IS, for that is all that matters. Let me not do anything until I seek your position, not my opinion, for if I follow my opinion I am ruling out your Word as an Authority in my Life. May Your view, Your word, Your spirit be the Authority of which my life is based and lived."

Verse 28 sums it up for me:

How can a fool be wise?
“Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his peace, when he shuts his lips, he is considered perceptive.”

“Heavenly Father, in Jesus Name, my opinion is rubbish and dung, my thoughts are nothing within myself alone, please by your Word and Power put Your Truth, Your Precept, Your Knowledge in my vessel and remove my meaningless, worthless opinions. Kill my simple, selfish thoughts, May all disputes be met at the foot of Cross and allow You to instruct me on what is founded in YOUR WORD, for that is all that matters, YOUR VOICE.” Amen

Amen. What hypocrites we are when we pray before we put ourselves in a just position. It is in this that humility grows. When we reflect on our need for our Redeemer, it is then that He shines His light into our hearts, which, when it is revealed to us what is in our hearts, it becomes harder to look upon others with a judgmental attitude. Lord, let my judgmental attitude be transformed into an attitude of love for those where I see You're needed. Let me not point my finger at anyone, for Your word says that with that measure I use to judge someone, it's by that measure in which I will be judged. Teach me to love in all situations and in all relationships...even with those I won't ever meet, but cast opinions and judgment on. I speak of those in Hollywood, in the media, and in the limelight. I pray for all those in the public eye that they may come to know you and fear you, that millions may be touched through them...by You.
